  • Tawse Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St Jacques 2020 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (94-96)

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru contains no stems this year. It has a very delineated and focused bouquet with superb mineralité and tension. The palate is very well balanced with the 50% new oak neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine delineation and so much freshness thank to the limestone soils. Very fine tension on the tightly-coiled finish. This has great potential. Wonderful.

  • Tawse Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St Jacques 2021 (3x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)

Domaine Two barrels, one new and one one year old, destemmed entirely. Some of the vines date back to 1929. Mid crimson colour, fine weight of strawberry fruit, absolutely fills the middle of the mouth, with quite a persistent finish. Clearly their preferred wine of the two whereas I fractionally prefer Champeaux. Both are very good indeed in 2025.

  • Tawse Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St Jacques 2023 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)

5 Star Wine. Two thirds of the vines were planted in from 1929, and the rest are not much younger. Very millerand grapes which were destemmed. Seven barrels made, which is unheard of even in the memory of the Maume family, whence these vines originated. Bright vigorous purple fruit, very sensual, picked at ideal ripeness, the fruit flowing across the palate, backed by useful tannins to finish. Drink from 2029-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.

  • Tawse Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Etelois 2021 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-93)

Domaine. 4 barrels, half new, 60% whole bunches, very healthy grapes here. Not too deep in colour, with a very stylish nose, albeit with the oak quite present in youth. A fair weight to this then a light sawdust note from the barrel. The intensity is more at the back of the palate and the length is impeccable.

  • Tawse Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2016 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a complex and higher toned bouquet compared to the Mazis-Chambertin from Faiveley: compelling aromas of blackberry, raspberry preserve, briary, sea cave and light rose petal aromas. The oak just needs more time to assimilate. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, and nicely pitched acidity. A tightly coiled finish feels abrupt for the moment. It just needs several years in bottle. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

  • Tawse Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru 2020 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-98)

5 star. Picked 2nd September at 13.5%. 80% new wood. 10% whole bunch. Lovely mid purple, not the deepest. More reserved than Mazoyères but clearly with an amazing depth. Crystalline purity, a whole bevy of fine red fruits underlined by a little torrefaction. It is really backward still but with extraordinary length. Very stylish. And actually then a huge weight of fruit returns even later. Tasted: November 2021

  • Tawse Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru 2023 (6x75cl)

    Burghound (93-95)

(Don't Miss) (from Mazis-Bas). An elegant, airy and beautifully layered nose is spicier still with plenty of floral influence suffusing the mix of red and dark currant, anise and forest floor. The super-sleek and equally, if markedly denser, medium-bodied flavors exhibit excellent power on the sappy, balanced and wonderfully persistent finale that is unmistakably built to repay extended keeping. One to strongly consider.

  • Tawse Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru 2023 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-97)

45% whole bunch. Lifted ruby purple. A touch of coconut from the wood. This has much more finesse than the Charmes. Really graceful on the palate yet still with tensile strength. An excellent fruit acid balance too, altogether a classy Mazoyères. Very persistent. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.

  • Tawse Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Gain 2020 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92-94)

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru has the best aromatics of Tawse’s white with delineated, mineral-driven citrus fruit that blossoms in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with fine delineation, citrus fresh with touches of orange zest and nectarine towards the finish that has plenty of energy. Excellent.

  • Tawse Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Gain 2021 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)

A domaine wine, badly hit by the frost. Clear bright colour, a light barrel toast but clearly with interesting fruit beneath. There is quite some concentration on the palate especially at the back, with yellow plum and pear fruit, a good thread of acidity and persistence.

  • Tawse Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavieres 2023 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-91)

Destemmed, 20% new wood, now racked to tank. A lovely fresh crimson colour. Mixed red berries, including strawberry, this is unforced and very pleasing. Tannins, lighter acidity, but the fruit wins through. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2024.

  • Tawse Volnay 1er Cru Fremiets 2019 (6x75cl)

    Burghound (91-93)

This is also elegant, perfumed and very floral with its pretty blend of red currant, cherry, anise and violet-scented nose. There is lovely tension and minerality suffusing the rich, focused and surprisingly powerful flavors that brim with dry extract on the beautifully long, firm and youthfully austere finish. This is excellent and easily the best of the Tawse wines from the Côte de Beaune. Very much worth considering. (91-93)/2031+

  • Tawse Volnay 1er Cru Fremiets 2020 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (89-92)

Black centre, purple rim. 50% whole bunch with two new barrels in seven. The alcohol shows through a bit on the nose. Racked and assembled. Impressive density here, even with some intense red fruit backing the blacker notes. The power takes it out of a classical Volnay but is still a good wine for those who are OK with the extra intensity. Tasted: November 2021
  • Tawse Volnay 1er Cru Fremiets 2023 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (91-93)

The 2023 Volnay Les Fremiets 1er Cru is completely destemmed this year. It has a fresh and more marine-influenced bouquet to the point where you might misconstrue there being some stems in the mix. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and much more elegant than the 2022. It has fine tannins and nice poise with a harmonious finish. There's not enormous length, but this is really quite a lovely Volnay.

  • Terrebrune Bandol Rose 2023 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

The 2023 Bandol Rosé from Domaine Terrebrune exhales aromas of spices, grapefruit, pomegranate, red berries and rose petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, tense and crystalline palate with a long, delicate and mouthwatering finish. This is a perfumed, refined Bandol rosé.

  • Thibault Liger-Belair Moulin-a-Vent Vv 2019 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (86-88)

The 2019 Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes was reduced by 60% in quantity by frost. A mix of six parcels with 40% whole cluster, it offers quite earthy red berry fruit on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy red fruit, fine grip and sour cherry toward the finish. Give this a year in bottle.

  • Thienot La Vigne Aux Gamins Blanc de Blancs 2010 (3x75cl)

    Decanter (97)

Racy and thrilling, this hits the spot in terms of direct and punchy yellow fruit flavours - lemon, grapefruit, orange and quince with a crisp texture and fine bubbles that fill the mouth. Such tension and precision. It has a sharp yet also mouthwatering acidity giving you a push pull of intensity and generosity. It's super dry and gives a raciness to the overall impression with very tiny hints of sweetness providing the round feel that's so appealing. Shines brightly and still feels so youthful, such a long ageing potential yet. I like the energy and the persistence here, it's clean and finessed. Not trying too hard but so easy to drink. 100% Chardonnay of white 90% comes from grands crus vineyards. Dosage 4g/L. Disgorged February 2022.

  • Thierry Allemand Cornas Les Chaillots 2020 (12x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (97)

The 2020 Cornas Chaillot comes from a mix of lieux-dits (it's mostly Chaillot) as well as some younger vines. It's an incredible wine in its own right and certainly doesn't give much in terms quality to its big brother. Awesome aromatics of crème de cassis, violets, crushed stone, and bouquet garni-like notes all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, concentrated mid-palate, and ultra-fine tannins. It's a touch more finesse-driven and elegant compared to the Reynard and should round into form with just 5-7 years of bottle age. This is legit awesome Cornas that will have 20-25 years of ultimate longevity.

  • Thierry Allemand Cornas Reynard 2016 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (97)

Brilliant purple. Dark fruit, floral and spice qualities on the hugely perfumed, expansive nose, along with suggestions of incense, olive and smoky minerals. Stains the palate with powerful, youthfully concentrated blueberry, cassis, spicecake and violet pastille flavors that are given spine and lift by a core of zesty acidity. Lingers with outstanding tenacity on the sharply delineated, floral-driven finish, which is shaped by chewy, slow-building tannins.

  • Thierry Allemand Cornas Reynard 2018 (12x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (100)

On another level, the 2018 Cornas Reynard is a tour de force and up there with the finest Cornas to ever pass my lips. Deep purple-hued, with a gorgeous perfume of crème de cassis, blackberries, powdered granite, violets, and peppery spice, it’s full-bodied and brings another level of elegance in its tannins as well as density on the palate. Full-bodied and perfectly balanced, with ultra-fine tannins, I can’t imagine a better Cornas, nor a Cornas that holds onto such a classic representation of the appellation paired with purity, elegance, and finesse.

  • Thierry Germain Roches Neuves Saumur Blanc Clos Romans 2019 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94)

From Souzay-Champigny and cultivated on clay-limestone terroir with just a 30-centimeter layer of clayey sand before the Seonian limestone is present, the 2019 Saumur Blanc Clos Romans has a straw yellow color and a deep yet subtle and complex bouquet of white fruits intertwined with the flinty limestone aromas. Pure, fresh and juicy, with great finesse and mineral tension, this is a refined and highly elegant Saumur Chenin with a persistent, sustainably structured finish. It's an impressive wine and one of the finest dry Chenins I have had from the Loire this year. Tasted in June 2021.

  • Thierry Germain Roches Neuves Saumur-Champigny Clos de l'Echelier 2019 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (95)

The 2019 Saumur Champigny Clos de L'Echelier is round and gently calm, almost meditative, but the chalky soil keeps things fresh and moving along despite the warmth of the growing season. There's delicacy on the midpalate and chalky finesse and fine tension on the lengthy finish, which is scented with red fruits and flowers. Outstanding stuff.

  • Thierry Germain Roches Neuves Saumur-Champigny Les Memoires 2019 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (96)

From vines planted in 1904 that sit on both flint and limestone, which is a rare combination in Saumur-Champigny, the 2019 Les Memoires is all purity of coulis-like fruit. It offers incredible concentration yet floats in the mouth like a weightless cloud. If there were a Cabernet Franc equivalent of Chambolle Musigny, this would be it. I love it. The finest of chalky tannins are just present on the finish, as if to remind you this is a red wine.

    Vinous (87-89)

The 2019 Chorey-lès-Beaune Pièce du Chapitre offers brambly black fruit on the nose, tinged with iodine and violet. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red berry fruit, showing more cohesion than the regular Village cru, and a savory finish.
  • Tollot-Beaut Corton Grand Cru 2011 (6x75cl)

    Burghound (92)

An attractively layered nose offers up notes of violet, plum, smoked meat hints and plenty of warm earth character to the wild dark berry fruit aromas. There is excellent volume to the ripe, intense and powerful large-scaled flavors that exhibit fine intensity on the powerful, balanced and vibrant finish that delivers its usual fine length. This isn't quite a robust as it usually is though it's a big wine all the same and will require an extended cellar siesta. Drink: 2023+
  • Tollot-Beaut Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2021 (3x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (91)

The 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has an even heavier reduction than David Croix's "C.C." and this seems more fixed despite transferring between glasses. The palate is better with admirable weight and depth. The reduction is still more pronounced than I would prefer, though it is redeemed by a lovely spiciness on the admittedly oaky finish plus there is plenty of vigour and length. How this Corton-Charlemagne will play out depends on what happens to that reduction... it could go either way, hence the question mark against my score. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
