Classic, high-toned scents of dried apricot, honey, crumbly buttery pastry shell and toffee. Incredibly dense and thick but also surprisingly racy, with its utterly seamless flavors of dried fruits, spices, hazelnut and marzipan framed and carried by almost lemony acidity. The 2022 Mâcon-Pierreclos Juliette et les Vieilles de Chavigne is one of the high points of the range, unwinding in the glass with deep aromas of pear and waxy citrus framed by notions of iodine and smoky reduction. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's muscular and concentrated, with a racy spine, terrific depth at the core and a long, pure finish. Readers will have fun deciding which rendition of this cuvée is their favorite, but what is certain is that anyone who loves profound white Burgundy will want to own them all.د.إ8,585.00 -

Subjected to the same incredibly strict selection criteria and then vinified with the same care as the (singular) Domaine Leflaive’s Grands and 1er Crus, Mâcon-Verzé is aged for 12 months in 25% new wood before it is transferred to stainless steel vats to clarify naturally.د.إ1,570.00 -

Made from 10 plots covering 13 ha, vinified and aged in a mix of stainless steel, concrete, demi-muids and foudres for one year, then all is blended in tank before bottling in January. A fairly full yellow in colour with some sunshine alongside the definite reductive character. The bouquet grows in richness, with ripe apple notes. A juicy quality of fruit, even a little bit buttery, salted butter for sure. 13.2% alcohol.د.إ1,605.00 -

Located further south than the Cote d’Or, Macon produces red, white and rose wines, most notably its riper, more tropical style of Chardonnay, which are easy drinking and often very good value. The small amount of red wine coming from Macon includes a generic “Bourgogne” made from Pinot Noir of little note and “Macon Rouge” which is produced from Gamay.
