The 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières has turned out brilliantly, offering up notes of orange zest, wet stones, white flowers, toasted hazelnuts and nutmeg. Medium- to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with lovely mid-palate plenitude, it marries ethereal purity with mineral depth to compelling effect, concluding with a sapid, chalky finish.د.إ2,990.00 -

The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes is showing very well despite its youth, bursting with aromas of pear, toasted nuts, white flowers and hints of iodine. Medium- to full-bodied, layered and textural, with a creamy attack that segues into a bright, saline finish, it retains excellent balance in this riper, more powerfully styled vintage.د.إ3,720.00 -

As I wrote shortly after it was bottled, the 2021 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes is one of the sites that Germain's team was able to thoroughly protect from the spring frosts (I remember driving past the parcel 10 days later, with it and Domaine Leflaive's vines standing out as the solitary island of green amidst a sea of desiccated buds), and the result is a wine that transcends the vintage. Offering up notes of waxy citrus rind, buttery pastry, iodine and white flowers, it's medium- to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with racy acids, chalky structuring extract and a long, saline finish.د.إ3,875.00 -

Vinous (88-90)
The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne "Quintessence" Grand Cru comes from the Aloxe-Corton side, from a climat, and is made with purchased grapes from vines around 55–60 years old. The rather muted nose has trouble following on from the clearly more expressive Puligny Les Combettes. The palate is balanced with a fine bead of acidity, but the truth is that I find this missing the complexity and mineralité of a Grand Cru, surpassed by some of Girardin’s excellent Premier Crus this vintage.د.إ6,895.00 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2020 Corton-Charlemagne "Quintessence" Grand Cru comes from a single parcel in Aloxe-Corton. This has more complexity and energy on the nose compared to the regular cuvée with fresh pineapple, grapefruit, crushed stone and a touch of mirabelle. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, harmonious and quite refined, not powerful on the finish but linear and poised. Eight barrels produced.د.إ5,885.00 -

There are 13,053 bottles of Domaine de la Vougeraie's superb 2017 Vougeot 1er Cru Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot, representing a modest yield for this emblematic monopole. Opening in the glass with a pretty bouquet of fresh green pear, peach, mandarin oil and petrol, framed by a discreet touch of nutty new oak, the wine is medium to full-bodied, racy and precise, with a delicate and elegantly tight-knit core of fruit and a long, precise finish. As readers may know, small percentages of Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc complement Chardonnay in this cuvée.د.إ2,625.00 -

The 2009 Charmes-Chambertin Les Mazoyeres comes across a big, powerful and super intense. It bursts from the glass with huge dark fruit, freshly cut flowers, tar and licorice, all of which come together with notable intensity. The 2009 shows off superb textural richness all the way through to the finish. The Charmes is young, young, young. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039.د.إ5,520.00 -

The 2015 Charmes Chambertin les Mazoyeres Grand Cru offers up notes of red and black fruit, beetroot, earth and whole cluster spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich and silky, with an expansive attack, a layered mid-palate and a long, saline finish. This is quite stylized, marked by whole cluster fermentation which seems to give it a high pH feel, but for admirers of this particular aesthetic—a perspective my score reflects—this should offer two decades of rewarding drinking.د.إ4,710.00 -
Vinous (91-93)
Apparently the berries were very aromatic when they entered the vat for the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Bel-Air 1er Cru, which includes 40% whole bunches. It has a lovely bouquet of wild strawberry, raspberry and wild hedgerow scents, touches of iris flower emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite fleshy and velvety-smooth in texture. There is more density here on the finish, which shows touches of spice and marmalade and fans out nicely. This should evolve well in bottle.د.إ1,670.00 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-98)
100% whole bunch vinification. Most of the vines date back to 1928-29 with a few from 1989. Glowing imperial purple. The nose mirrors the majesty. Starts discreetly then swells on the palate. The wine is entirely harmonious with perfectly integrated light touch of acidity. It is very far from being massive but it is a beauty nonetheless.د.إ13,725.00 -
Decanter (92)
William Fevre own 46ha of AP Chablis but there was lots of frost damage in 2021 - the yield was just 18hl/ha! Lovely floral notes here, very precise and focussed. This is already appealing although the acidity is certainly evident. Lingering spice notes on the finish. From a tank sample, with bottling due in November. Drink from next year and for many years.د.إ704.00 -

(from a .55 ha parcel). Slightly honied aromas of exotic white and yellow peach are laced with moderate amounts of classic Chablis character. Interestingly, the medium-bodied flavors are not quite as dense as those of the Les Lys though they are still notably powerful while offering just a bit more depth on the sneaky long, sappy and serious finale. At least some patience will be necessary. 2026+د.إ1,370.00 -

Fèvre has three parcels in Montée de Tonnerre (its purest, most mineral premier cru): Chapelot, Pied d'Aloup and Côte de Bréchain, all facing different ways. Very precise, crystalline fruits, salinity, great acidity and a long, long finish. Will age beautifully, but great now.د.إ1,365.00 -

Pale primrose. Medium to full concentration on the nose. Then an explosion on the palate, with both depth and great clarity. This has a fine touch to it that augurs very well. Really fine boned without in anyway sacrificing intensity. Brilliantly classy. DIAM 10 closure.د.إ2,010.00 -

Planted by William's father, these vines are now 55 years old. All the parcels here are on steep slopes. The scintillating nose starts with salted lemons and perky grapefruit peels. The wholesome breadth on the nicely weighty mid-palate vies with tingly acidity and creates a push-pull of ripe fruit and savory minerality from start to finish. 2023-2034د.إ1,510.00 -

The 2017 Chablis Bougros Côte Bouguerots Grand Cru is mind-bending. Usually a more powerful Chablis, in 2017 the Côte Bouguerots is airy, weighty and beautifully lifted, with pretty floral and saline notes that confer a great deal of freshness. The 2017 opens up beautifully with time in the glass, showing tons of volume and resonance, all retaining its bright, sculpted personality.د.إ2,415.00 -
Burghound (93-95)
A cool and highly restrained nose reluctantly offers up its array of citrus, tidal pool, quinine and oyster shell. The exceptionally rich, even opulent, medium-weight plus flavors also brim with sappy dry extract on the mineral-driven, powerful and remarkably long finish. This is perhaps slightly less elegant than it typically is, but it is most impressive all the same. (93-95)/2033+د.إ1,140.00 -

The 2019 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos has turned out brilliantly, mingling aromas of orange oil, confit citrus and crisp green apple with notes of warm bread, white flowers, oyster shell and anise in an incipiently complex bouquet. Full-bodied, layered and muscular, it's concentrated and tightly wound, with broad shoulders and huge depth at the core, concluding with a long, electric finish. It was cropped at 25 hectoliters per hectare.د.إ932.00 -

William's father planted these vines in 1947, 1948, 1950 and 1952. All are in the upper part of Les Clos. Their positioning simultaneously offers freshness and power. Yellow cherries, yellow tomatoes and summer herbs deliver a bold palate. It's a tsunami of flavor, and the structure is equally dominating. Give this time to harmonize further though it wouldn't disappoint if you sipped it now. 2026-45د.إ2,620.00 -

Cool and strikingly elegant aromas include those of quinine, white peach, spice and an abundance of classic Chablis notes. The dense yet wonderfully refined medium-weight flavors brim with dry extract on the gorgeously long, balanced and highly complex finale. This is extremely stylish and very promising. Showing the delicate touch of one of the very best winemakers in Chablis, this is a saline, focused, wonderfully structured Preuses that has plenty of grip and acidity, sappy, bone-dry flavors and remarkable length.د.إ2,590.00 -
Vinous (94-96)
The 2021 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru comes from 2.5-hectares split over two parcels. This has one of my favourite aromatics from Fèvre this year with superb delineation and mineralité. The palate is harmonious and poised, very focused and tensile, plenty of energy with a touch of lime and clementine towards the persistent finish. This is an outstanding Chablis that should age supremely well in bottle.د.إ3,520.00 -
Decanter (96)
Beautiful mix of richness, grace and drive. As always with Fèvre's Les Preuses, this is elegant, long-living and fine. Ultra-stylish and very mineral. From two sections of vines. One situated low down on Les Preuses next to Vincent Dauvissat's plot, on the flatter part facing south, the other on deeper soils, with both adding richness and totalling 2.5ha.د.إ1,405.00 -

Sourced from an east-facing slope that yields one of the racier and more ethereal wines in the range, the 2023 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses opens with aromas of oyster liquor, orange peel, white flowers and lemon oil. Medium- to full-bodied, taut and tensile, it is nakedly chalky, incisive and searingly saline. The site is so steep that special cable equipment is employed for its cultivation.د.إ1,595.00 -
