The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru seems to have been born to embarrass my rather tepid reaction to this wine from barrel. Wow! This has me smitten. It offers a very floral, seductive bouquet with pressed violet petals liberally scattered over the black cherry and wild strawberry fruit, and just a hint of vanilla in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. This is very cohesive, harmonious and silky-smooth in texture, with a light touch of blood orange and brown spices that impart complexity on the finish. Excellent. A relatively deeply pitched nose offers plenty of both floral and spice elements along with notes of plum, dark cherry and a touch of Asian-style tea. As is usually the case there is excellent volume and a taut muscularity to the sappy broad-shouldered flavors that flash superb depth and persistence. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, taut and crisp, quite linear with fine sapidity on the structure, backward finish. A Premier Cru with a long future ahead. (from a large 1.76 ha parcel). Here too there is enough wood to notice but not to intrude on the exceptionally spicy and overtly floral-suffused nose of dark currant and plum. There is outstanding intensity, muscle and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that brim with both minerality and dry extract on the sappy, mouth coating, robust and youthfully austere finish that goes on and on. The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru was picked on September 9 with 25% whole cluster and 35% new oak. It offers pretty cranberry and wild strawberry scents on the nose, well-defined, if not quite as complex as its peers. The palate is well balanced with crisp, slightly crunchy red berry fruit on the entry. There is something "playful" about this Les Malconsorts. It doesn't take itself too seriously, yet there is ample tension and considerable mineralité on the finish. Not to be underestimated.د.إ5,370.00 -

A blend of Damodes du bas and Basses Maizières, picked on 3rd and 7th September. Attractive mid purple. Some nobility to the nose but in a discreet way. This is happily balanced with excellent class, heady Vosne fruit, even some spice, then a firmer tannin, but this works really well. Damodes gives the lift, Maizières the body. Drink from 2028-2035. The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village contains 20% whole bunch from the La Violette lieu-dit and destemmed fruit from the Quartiers de Nuits and Basses-Maizière lieux-dits. Aged in 30% new oak, it is quite backward and surly on the nose at first, but opens to reveal white pepper and clove aromas tincturing the tightly wound black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, and quite sweet at its core, with that white pepper leitmotif and a touch of graphite toward the crunchy finish.د.إ1,475.00 -

The overtly stony flavors are shaped by notably firm yet extremely fine tannins and while there is ample power and vibrancy, the palate feel is all silk and satin. To be sure, this is a big wine with impressive concentration but 2010 is a vintage for LT of refinement and polish if not exactly finesse.
