Burgundy 2022 En Primeur: Blue Skies Over Beaune, Verdant Vines In Vosne
After the unusually cold and small-yielding 2021, the 2022 vintage swung back to what we might consider the “new norm”. With an overall abundance of warmth and sunshine, timely rainfall in June and August helped to balance out any effects of the heat. Early impressions tell a story of wines in general produced with more richness and concentration than their predecessors, with the best of them retaining all important freshness and disarming equilibrium.
Jasper Morris is the first critic to release the 2022 vintage report. He praised the vintage as "bountiful and beautiful" and recommends collectors to consider cellaring the wines.
"Vintages that came to mind were 1985 for the health of the grapes, 1999 for the size of the crop and the relative consistency of quality though with a bias towards the Côte de Beaune, and 2002 – just short of top flight but a really lovely flavour profile of medium density and longevity." Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
"All other things being equal, I would recommend going large in 2022, large in the sense of a broad range because there are so many really good wines at all levels." Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon unwinds in the glass with a gently reductive bouquet of pear, sweet citrus zest, wet stones and wheat toast. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, it's bright and saline, with a long, penetrating finish.د.إ10,920.00 -

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes has been one of the highlights of the range in recent years, and it's often one of the domaine's earliest-ripening parcels. This year's rendition is attractive, exhibiting aromas of pear, orange zest, white flowers and hazelnuts, but the medium-bodied, delicately satiny palate can't quite match the texture and plenitude of recent renditions, lending the wine a somewhat understated, early-picked profile.د.إ4,921.28 -

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières has also turned out very nicely, mingling aromas of pear and orange oil with notions of freshly baked bread, struck match and warm stones. Burghound (90-92)
Outstanding. A markedly more floral-suffused nose features notes of cool Granny Smith apple, citrus and a touch of mineral reduction. The caressing, delicious and plump but agreeably energetic medium-bodied flavors possess solid depth and persistence on the balanced, firm and highly refreshing finale. This is also excellent for its level and a wine that should drink well after only 3 to 4 years of keeping but age gracefully for a decade. Recommended.د.إ2,465.00 -
